Star Trek Picard

Star Trek: Picard

Nostalgia is Good

I have fond memories of watching Star Trek the Next Generation growing up. I was never a Trekkie per say, but I did enjoy watching it every week. So when I heard that they were putting the band back together, so to speak, I was intrigued. 30 years later, Picard is that nostalgia come home to rest in my adulthood.

Cyborgs are Taking Over

What’s the story? Well at some point in the past 30 years some cyborgs come and set Mars on fire. That’s not the whole story as there is something about the Romulans’ home world being blown up and Picard being the hero helping relocate the entire race to an old Borg cube. Anyway, there’s a cyborg in Boston that doesn’t know she’s a cyborg and after a run in with some assassins she “activates” and kill all the assassins, but not before they kill her boyfriend. Then she has a vision of Picard and she flys to France to find out if he knows her. I won’t spoil the rest of the story. You should watch it yourself. They have the first episode free on YouTube for a limited time.

Times up! The YouTube video is now gone.

No. Subscriptions are Taking Over

Which brings me to my last point. The first episode is free, but if you want to watch the rest you have to subscribe to CBS. This is starting to get crazy. There is a subscription for everything. I already have Apple TV+, Disney+, and Netflix. Now I need to pay for another one? Well, I’m not going to. The other Star Trek show, Discovery, is also on CBS, but they released it on Vudu after the season ended. I’ll just wait and watch Picard there after the season is over. That’s what I did with the Watchmen and that’s what I’ll do here. Good show, but not worth another subscription to watch it.
